| "GLIMPSES" grew out of my love for intimate, personal art that invites the viewer to move in closer, look a little deeper, creating a sense of magic and mystery. I also love the idea that the individual parts of the greater whole have a significance and beauty of their own. Each "GLIMPSE" is actually a snippet of a photograph that is part of a collection of my photos that have persistently intrigued me over the years for reasons beyond their obvious design and graphic qualities. By focusing attention on these small pieces of the larger whole, the reason for their significance became apparent to me. Each little scene seemed to be infused with its own design, texture and color identity and so quite capable of standing alone. I've had great fun discovering and playing with all the different design elements contained within the original photographs. My hope is that you, too, can feel that lovely sense of discovery when viewing these small "GLIMPSES" |

Well, here's the story...
Once upon a time I came across a bunch of 5"x 7" and 8"x 10"
precut mats with very small openings - 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" square for
the 5'x 7", and 2 1/2"x 2 1/2" for the 8"x 10". They all were white
mats and they were REALLY clearance priced. So I bought 'em
all! They proceeded to sit somewhere in my studio for about a
year, then resurfaced one fine day. Automatically I started
moving them around on some photo enlargements I had just
printed. All of a sudden the proverbial "AHA" moment happened.
I really liked what i was seeing! New little images kept appearing
that seemed to have their own identity and style.
So... I went a little nuts - Started cutting my own little mats,
scrounging for and reconditioning 5'x 7" and 8"x 10" frames,
came up with a name for my little pieces of photographic art - and
the rest as they say, is history.
"GLIMPSES" are highly affordable, rather evocative little art
pieces, perfect for small walls or groupings, inviting closer
